Hameeda is responsible for identifying and acquiring high-quality education materials for Afghan educators associated with the Afghanistan Higher Education project (HEP). She finds and uploads high-quality teaching materials in English, Pashto and Dari to the portal, and works closely with the Afghan professors and Afghanistan Higher Education Project team. She travels to Afghanistan twice a year to conduct GLP training workshops for teachers on the navigation of the portal, uploading resources to the library, and taking part in the online discussions.
Hameeda worked as an intern in Kandahar with Afghans for Civil Society in the summer of 2005 and 2006. She started the organization’s health initiative program for them and taught English and nutrition in Kandahar, Afghanistan to women and young girls. She taught English to adults in Pakistan and has worked as a substitute teacher for Montgomery County in Maryland.
Hameeda is an Afghan-American born in Kabul, a native speaker of Pashto and Dari, and fluent in Urdu and Hindi. She has a Bachelor's degree in Food Science from the University of Maryland College Park, and is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Instructional Technology at University of Maryland University College.
She likes reading books, listening to music, watching movies, cooking and spending time with her niece and nephews. She lives with her younger brother in Silver Spring, Maryland.
