Veronica provides web development and graphic design support to GLP. She gathers website requirements from clients and team members, codes changes to the appearance and layout of GLP sites, and delivers other requests to the web manager and contractors. When GLP implements new visual designs, Veronica leads the team’s collaboration with graphic designers, guiding the refinement of needs and responses.
Balancing visual and technological interests throughout her life, Veronica served a variety of roles before entering the web development industry. She worked in the collection at the National Museum of Natural History and in the library at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. In school, she provided on-site and remote support at the college helpdesk, and organized several student art exhibitions, including Faulconer Gallery's annual Art Salon.
Veronica graduated with a BA in Studio Art from Grinnell College, focusing her studies on printmaking and painting. In 2006, she fulfilled a research fellowship at the Newberry Library in Chicago, where she analyzed the iconography of 17th Century continental maps. She taught herself to create web pages when animated gifs were still cutting edge, and today continues to embrace the latest web developments.
In her web work, Veronica puts an emphasis on meaningful markup and standards compliant code for cross-browser compatibility. She is currently developing her usability expertise as well as an interest in solving problems with pictures.
