Melissa Beuoy is responsible for keeping information on the GLP website fresh and interesting by keeping abreast of current events and issues in international education. As part of GLP's core, Melissa stays in close communication with the local GLP communities and helps them share information on current activities through GLP.net. Melissa works with various GLP projects on their content strategy and trains GLP communities on computer and information literacy skills.
Melissa has been connecting people with information for eight years. As a librarian, she has worked in a public library, a law library, and most recently, a university library, where she taught information seekers how to be proficient researchers, with the ultimate goal of building their lifelong learning skills.
She earned her B.A.in English Literature from the University of California, Berkeley, a Masters in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University, and is presently completing an M.A. in International Educational Development at Columbia University's Teachers College with a focus on education policy. Melissa's academic interests focus on Cuban education policy, and the supporting role libraries (digital and print) can play in improving the quality of education throughout the world.
Melissa lives in New York City. She is an avid lover of music, yoga, and traveling, and also enjoys cooking, baking, and bike riding around town.
