Alliance Members

USAID

USAID is an independent federal government agency that receives overall foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State. USAID works to support long-term and equitable economic growth and to advance United States foreign policy objectives by supporting efforts to improve economic growth, agricultural production, health, democracy, humanitarian assistance, and education. USAID provides the primary funds for the GLP.

Academy for Educational Development (AED)

AED is committed to solving critical social problems in the areas of health, education, youth development, and the environment in the United States and throughout the world through education, training, social marketing, and policy analysis. As part of this mission, AED is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the Global Learning Portal.

Microsoft Partners in Learning

Microsoft Partners in Learning is a global initiative whose goal is to improve learning experiences through ICT and help teachers enable students to build 21st century skills. Since 2003, the Partners in Learning program has trained more than 7 million teachers and reached more than 170 million students in 112 countries . The 10-year nearly $500 million program underscores Microsoft’s deep commitment to helping teachers and school leaders use technology appropriately in the classroom. We do this by partnering with governments, academic institutions and NGOs to define the right local context.

International Youth Foundation

The International Youth Foundation (IYF) invests in the extraordinary potential of young people. Founded in 1990, IYF builds and maintains a worldwide community of business, governments, and civil society organizations committed to empowering youth to be healthy, productive, and engaged citizens.

LEGO Education

LEGO® Education provides complete learning solutions which cover important curriculum areas while stimulating creativity, problem-solving and team-working skills. More than 30 years of experience has taught us the effectiveness of learning by making. Our solutions are based on a hands-on learning approach that actively involves students in their own learning process. Our sets meet the goals for early childcare practitioners and are highly relevant in schools and after-school environments.

Liferay, Inc.

Liferay, Inc. develops open source portal solutions that can be integrated with many different systems and applications. GLP entered into a strategic partnership with Liferay to promote open source portal technology for educational development. GLP's portal platform powered by Liferay technologies.

Committee for Economic Development (CED)

CED is non-profit, non-partisan business led public policy organization. GLP signed a MOU with CED in 2009 to foster efforts to expand business engagement and advocacy for the Africa Education Commons (AEC), to bring business thinking and involvement to the GLP Alliance and to identify opportunities for CED and its counterparts to expand African engagement, education advocacy, and membership in the International Private Sector Business Network.

Commonwealth of Learning (COL)

COL is an intergovernmental organisation created by Commonwealth Heads of Government to encourage the development and sharing of open learning/distance education knowledge, resources and technologies. COL is helping developing nations improve access to quality education and training.

Waterford Research Institute

The Waterford Institute began with one man's vision more than 30 years ago. It was then that Dr. Dustin Heuston, a headmaster in New York City, saw an urgent need to supplement the traditional classroom experience. He set the goal to provide both educational excellence and equity to all children through the transformative power of new technology. He founded the Waterford Institute, which quickly became known as a pioneer in new interactive training that harnessed the full power of the computer to enhance learning. Early accomplishments included the development of the first educational videodisk for McGraw Hill, as well as the first educational videodisk for the National Science Foundation.
