Rwanda ICT in Education Partnership Building Workshop Over 150 people from inside and outside Rwanda, including representatives of IT companies, donors, international non-profits, and decision makers attended a workshop, organized by Ministry of Education in Rwanda and the Global Learning Portal, to build partnership around ICT in education in Rwanda. • Peace Pals invites children throughout the world to participate in The 11th Annual International Peace Pals Art Competition and Exhibition. The competition’s theme is ‘Peace in My Community’ and pictures should include the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth". Deadline for submissions of artwork is 30 July 2009. • The Global Junior Challenge, promoted by the City of Rome, is an initiative designed and organised by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale to promote an inclusive knowledge society. The competition rewards the innovative use of modern technologies in training, education, solidarity and international cooperation. Submit a project addressed to youth up to 29 years of age and which uses new ICT technology for education and training. The deadline for submission is 30 July 2009. • What does biodiversity mean to you? Submit a photograph that captures the spirit or idea of biodiversity to the See the Bigger Picture Contest. It is sponsored by Airbus and National Geographic and part of the Green Wave project, which is making people smarter about the complex variety of life on Earth and helping us to build a more sustainable future. The deadline for submission is 8 September 2009. • The Global Virtual Classroom Contest is a global team cooperation and website-building activity for students from 7 to 18 years of age. Up to 100 teams of three schools each will build Websites on topics of their choosing. Submit your team information by 25 September 2009 to join the contest.
