The Mobile Learning Institute Earth Day Challenge invites young people internationally, working alone or in teams, to develop brief films that share their views on our environment and Earth’s future. Winning participants will receive digital filmmaking equipment such as camcorders and laptops. Submissions are due by 1 September 2009.

It is sponsored by Airbus and National Geographic and part of the Green Wave project, which is making people smarter about the complex variety of life on Earth and helping us to build a more sustainable future. The Global Virtual Classroom Contest is a global team cooperation and website-building activity for students from 7 to 18 years of age. Up to 100 teams of three schools each will build Websites on topics of their choosing. Submit your team information by 25 September 2009 to join the contest.
The UNESCO International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) is seeking nominations for the UNESCO-IPDC Prize for Rural Communication. The UNESCO-IPDC Prize for Rural Communication consisting of a sum of US$20,000 is intended to recognize a meritorious and innovative activity in improving communication in rural communities, chiefly in the developing countries.
